Welcome to my learning portfolio that will showcase all of my honors experiences, along with community service, clubs, activities, co-op, resume, and my year-in review. This page is to allow you to get to know who I am, and what I like to be involved in. My name is Madison Summers, and I am originally from Akron, Ohio where I was born and grew up. Growing up I was a very hands-on child, always wanting to play outside, dig around in the dirt, and climb trees. I took all this energy when I grew up and channeled in through volleyball, softball, and bowling. My two greatest passions were softball and bowling. My whole family is really big into bowling and we are very competitive. I was a part of my bowling team in high school and went to states twice. My last year I ended up placing in states which was very rewarding. Softball was always fun, and I was always busy with softball as I wanted to play softball in college; however, due to time constraints I was unable to try out for the club softbar at Cincinnati. My big decision in high school came down to going to the University of Cincinnati or the University of Akron, both were excellent choices, but when I stepped onto the campus at the University of Cincinnati, and I just felt at home, and I knew this is where I needed to be. Currently I am going into my senior year at the University of Cincinnati. Where has the time gone. I feel like just yesterday I was a freshman starting my first day!. I am majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in materials engineering and chemistry. As I explored my options as a freshman, I decided that I wanted the honors program to be apart of my life and to give me different experiences. This is one of the best choices I have made as I have gone to Vienna, Austria and I get to travel to Greece and Egypt! So many rewarding experiences and I cannot wait for what is in store my last year at UC. In the gateway to honors class we take the strengths finder test which will show you your top five strengths. Mine were input, achiever, deliberative, learner and relator. As I have continued to reflect on these strengths over the years, I find like most people that I begin to gravitate towards circumstances that allow me use my strengths in their full potential. I have tried to put myself out there more by creating a fitness Instagram (@maddysummers_fit) where I record my fitness journey and attempt to help others pursue their fitness journey. I also just recently signed up to be a ambassador for JustStrong which is a fitness brand that is about empowering women. I am really excited about this journey and look forward to working with them in the future. I am involved in a lot on campus, and continue to try to find opportunities to use my skills. In the American Institute of Chemical Engineers I have been the secretary for my sophomore to junior year, and for my senior year I am the acting president for the fall semester. I was selected to be apart of Omega Chi Epsilon which is a national honors society for chemical engineering students and here I will be the secretary for my senior year. I was also selected to be about of Tau Beta Pi Ohio Beta which is where juniors/pre-juniors in the top eight of their college with multiple majors are invited to join. For my senior year I am acting president for this organization as well. Some of the other clubs I have been apart of are Society of Women Engineers (SWE) where I was the secretary my sophomore year and the Social chair my pre-junior year. With all of my other activities that I have been involved in, I have enjoyed just participating in a club with limited responsibilities. I was also apart of the engineering diplomats where my pre-junior year I was the Worldfest Chair, and my junior year I was the Planning Committee Co-Head. I also have been a Teaching Assistant/Grader since my sophomore year. In the fall of 2018 I was a peer leader for our gateway class in honors. This was a truly rewarding experience and allowed me to improve my leadership skills. Finally, for my senior year I will be apart of the honors ambassadors social community team! I am very excited for all of the opportunities that I have coming up in the Fall semester and I can only image the opportunities that I will have in my final semester at UC. I am looking forward to start the job search and hope that I receive an industry job right out of college. I will miss UC once I am gone, but the experience and lessons that UC has taught me along the way, I will never forget.
