This year I am the Planning Co-Committee Head. The engineering do not have tradition roles of President, Vice President, and so forth, so we have Committee heads which run the organization, there are three different tiers: planning, communications and peer mentorship, and six students working together to run the organization. As the tiers indicated, planning is in charge of helping committee members plan all events including Welcome Event, Cultural Food Event, and Worldfest. These are all activities that help us get out the world about the Chongqing students that are coming to UC in their 5th year. The various tasks include managing the committee members, submitting budgets, keeping timelines, running meetings, managing members, and china trip decisions.
Year 1: Fall 2017-Spring 2018
The Engineering Diplomats formally is an organization that seeks to build the excitement and understanding of the arrival of the CQU (Chongqing University) students that are transferring to UC's main campus during their senior year, and to create a community and foster innovation through intercultural relations between Cincinnati and Chongqing students. The program started with only four selected students that grew the program. My good friend was apart of this program and he pushed to expand the organization so that more students could be involved. Before they were accepting applicatants I was helping out with some various tasks whenever I could to help my friend with the acitivites. I helped with Cultural Food events, World Fest, and the Welcome Event. I applied to be apart of this program and was accepted! I signed up to plan WorldFest co-chair for Spring 2018. We are involved with planning all things related to WorldFest like making the games, obtaining volunteers, and planning the prizes. It is a fun event where students can learn about different games and their traditional country they were played in. Stay tuned for more information, and pictures from Spring WorldFest 2018!
