During my co-op with BASF in the Spring 2017, all the co-ops participated in a volunteering event with Hands Against Hunger. During this event we learned about different problems that are encountered for children in third world countries. It was really interesting to see the differences in the water for different countries. After watching an educational video about some of the costs and how we could help them, we were split into different operations. There were three different types of of stations that include Hope, Hunger, and Water. Each station has different tasks through the three hours of helping. Most of the co-ops were assigned within the Hope station where we made put newspapers within envelopes that would be given to the children. This was to give the children an idea of what occurring on our side of the world, and to give them something to look forward too. Within our time there we finished all the work within the Hope station, and moved on to help with the Water station. Here we put together envelopes that included directions, and water packages that would clean the water in 30 minutes. These packets were extremely interesting and I enjoyed creating these packages for kinds in order to supply them with a way to get clean water. After experiencing my time there I would like to go back again and continue to help this organization. This was a very humbling experience, and I look forward to more community service events like this in the future.
This is the group of co-ops that attended the volunteering event. I have the purple hat on!
